Happily Ever After?

Before I start my little "Link/Ilia FTW" pitch I just want to say that there really is no official pairing in the Zelda series (despite what some fans might say). I also think that anyone has the right to support any pairing of their choosing, even if it can't be canonically supported. After all, it's just a video game. That being said, it did seem like Twilight Princess was specifically geared towards Link/Ilia and Link/Midna.

I choose to support the Link/Ilia pairing because, and let's face it, it doesn't get much more romantic than the girl next door. In the long line of Zelda games I can see why fans are more partial to Link/Zelda; the series practically revolves around them and the hero/princess relationship typically gets the popular vote. I even like the Link/Zelda pairing in some cases, but every Link is a different person and they all simply do not have to be with Zelda. And Link/Ilia just feels like that's how it should be in Twilight Princess. For two people who have spent their whole lives together, growing up together, working together, playing together, and seeing eachother every day, it would be very unusual for a close bond not to develope between them. Rather that bond is or will be romantic, however, is up to interpretation...
